What is the contest?

Anisa International, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of cosmetic brushes and applicators for many cosmetic and beauty companies around the world. We are excited to be able to offer the latest innovation and cutting-edge materials for each of our individual clients to choose from when it comes to creating their brushes and accessories. We also take pride in continually searching and implementing new sustainable materials into our brushes. 

In keeping with this vision of sustainable innovation, we would like to announce the Anisa International, Inc. Design Contest. This contest is an opportunity for the public to design and create a cosmetic brush/brush set that is new and created with sustainable materials. We believe that professional and amateur designers alike will be able to offer a fresh perspective on brush utility, aesthetics and material options. We suggest that entrants to the contest fully research brushes and brush technology that is in the marketplace, as well as sustainable material options, as we are looking for something totally new and creative, that hasn't been done before.

Deadlines:

Contest opens on June 10. Submissions must be received by August 30, when the contest officially closes. Submissions postmarked after this date will not be considered. Winner will be notified by September 13. The winner and their submission will be presented on September 29 in New York City at the HBA tradeshow.

Who is eligible?

  • Applicant must legally reside in the U.S.
  • Amateur, professional, or student designers are welcome, but it's not required to be a designer by profession, we welcome anyone with a new idea.
  • Employees, partners or customers and clients currently affiliated with Anisa International, Inc. of any of its subsidiaries are excluded.

How is it judged?

Each category will be ranked on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the highest. The percentages listed here represent how each category is weighted.

  • Use of sustainable materials (20%)
  • Innovation/originality (20%)
  • Design aesthetics (15%)
  • Marketability (15%)
  • Cost to produce (15%)
  • Product life cycle (15%)

What should be submitted?

We encourage creativity with your product submission. We are looking for applicants to pitch their idea, so we advocate utilizing different mediums that will best can be used to submit the project. To enter the Contest, develop an original design for a cosmetic brush or brush set that is created using sustainable materials and submit a prototype and description of the design.

Minimum requirements include:

  • A fully completed and signed application form including your name and contact information and disclosure of all requested information.
  • One prototype of the product.
    • Either a physical prototype OR a print rendering will be accepted.
      • A physical prototype is not required but will add value to the submission.
      • Print rendering may include hand drawings, 3-D CAD printouts, detailed specifications, or any other renderings on paper. Please only submit printed renderings, computer files containing drawings may not be examined.
    • Prototype must be branded and incorporate the Anisa International logo. Details regarding use of Anisa International logo are available at in the Entry Packet.

In addition, Submissions may contain supporting documents limited to:

  • One compact disc including:
    • Video containing a commercial, a sales pitch, the product in action, or instructions. Video must be no longer than 5 minutes
    • Mock Website that is no larger than 3 pages

Supporting documents are optional and may be reviewed by Anisa International as part of the entry, but are not required for Submission to be eligible.

All components of your Submission must be your original creation.

What is the award?

One (1) Prize to be awarded: Prize consist of $800 travel budget to be used on travel to New York City to attend the HBA tradeshow on September 29, 2010, plaque outlining the achievement, and $2500 cash prize.
