Atlanta manufacturer celebrates milestone anniversary
Company unites American and Chinese workers cross culturally to celebrate common achievements
Atlanta, Ga., USA - Atlanta-based Anisa International, Inc., a globally innovative leader in today's competitive cosmetic brush industry, celebrated their plant's six-year anniversary in Tianjin, China on November 7. Anisa Cosmetic Applicators (Tianjin) Co. Ltd. is the manufacturing facility for Anisa International, Inc., and is the only female, American-owned brush plant in China. Festivities included prize drawings for televisions and bicycles for perfect employee attendance, presentations by both American and Chinese representatives, as well as a celebratory meal featuring traditional Chinese dishes.
President Anisa Telwar opened the brush plant in 2003 to accompany Anisa International, Inc. in order to enhance customer service and to better control the manufacturing process. The plant is considered a benchmark in the new generation of manufacturing facilities in China, bringing together the American standard of social and quality compliance with the dedication and determination of the Asian work ethic.
Clients who have visited the Tianjin plant agree that it stands out from other factories. Bill Ashton, vice president of operations for Bare Escentuals, a San-Francisco based client, has visited several Chinese factories. "You visit Anisa's plant and it's clean. Spotless. The workers are happy. They have heat and air conditioning. I happened to be there (in 2008) when they were giving out worker incentive prizes and 100 women got bicycles. Do you know what it means to a woman in China to have a brand new bicycle?"
Partnership between the Chinese and American divisions of the company is a key component to the company's success. "Having the chance for our Asian and American workers to celebrate our hard work together is important. It can be challenging to stay connected with cultural and language barriers, but the anniversary gives us a great chance to overcome that," said Mr. Kuk Nam Jo, vice-president of manufacturing. Although the plant is located in China, it is truly a multicultural melting pot, with workers from many different Asian countries, including Korea, Japan and China.
Although it is a global company, Ms. Telwar sees each part of her company as being a united family with common goals. "This anniversary is a unique opportunity for both the corporate and the manufacturing branches of the company to come together, cross-culturally, to celebrate our combined achievements, and plan for the future," she said.
This year's celebration included many prize giveaways, for employee attendance, performance, and other achievements. Both the American and Asian employees enjoyed a traditional Chinese meal and the opportunity to further connect with their colleagues working across the globe.
